Streamlined Video Consultations with Dog Behaviorists, Including Personalized Sessions and Ongoing Support.
Problem:
Dog owners lacked an accessible, streamlined platform to connect with professional behaviorists for real-time, personalized advice, making it difficult to address behavioral issues efficiently. The absence of easy-to-use tools for scheduling, communication, and support limited their ability to get timely, expert help.
Solution:
We developed an intuitive app that allows dog owners to quickly find behaviorists, book video consultations, and receive personalized guidance, including tailored behavior plans. With features like meeting history, Q&A webinars, and an emergency hotline, the app provides ongoing support and a seamless user experience.
Overview:
We recently developed a user-friendly app that transforms how dog owners connect with behaviorists through video consultations and online communication. The app allows users to easily find specialists, book appointments, and engage in personalized, interactive sessions, including sharing videos and creating tailored behavior plans. Key features like meeting history, Q&A webinars, and an emergency hotline offer ongoing support and education, enhancing the overall user experience. Our goal was to create an intuitive platform that empowers dog owners with effective solutions and continuous assistance.
Users:
Our focus group revealed that young dog owners are enthusiastic about using new technologies like video calls to connect with specialists, valuing the convenience and efficiency these innovations bring to seeking expert guidance in dog behavior and training.
In our environmental survey, we interviewed a diverse group of dog owners aged 18-60 to assess their comfort with technology and willingness to consult behaviorists, revealing that many faced challenges with high costs and scheduling, but expressed strong interest in more affordable online consultation options, a sentiment echoed by receptive behaviorists.
Process:
I was responsible for overseeing the design and direction of the project, focusing on usability solutions for navigation and developing strategies for implementing various user options.
Scope:
Research & Discovery:
Conduct user and behaviorist interviews to identify needs and validate the app's concept.
Design & Prototyping:
Develop personas, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes. Use paper prototyping for initial testing and feedback.
Core Features:
Implement search functions, behaviorist profiles, video consultations, and support features like meeting history and an emergency hotline.
Testing & Refinement:
Perform usability testing to refine designs and improve user experience.
Development & Launch:
Ensure smooth design-to-development handoff and monitor user feedback post-launch for future improvements.
Constraints:
Timeline:
Fixed project deadlines limit the time available for research, design, and iterations.
Budget:
Constraints on resources may limit features and depth of user research.
Technology:
Dependence on third-party services for video and communication may affect user experience.
Stakeholder Feedback:
Frequent changes in feedback may impact project direction and require adaptability.
User Adoption:
Success depends on effective user and behaviorist onboarding and marketing efforts.
Lo-Fidelity screens:
We developed lo-fi wireframes as preliminary drafts, which acted as our testing deck for potential users. These early-stage designs allowed us to visualize and iterate on the user flow, collect valuable feedback, and make necessary adjustments before moving forward with more detailed prototypes.
Final Product:
Based on insights from user interviews, we developed a streamlined user flow to simplify the process of finding and connecting with behaviorists on our platform. By prioritizing simplicity and efficiency, users can easily browse profiles, check availability, and schedule consultations with a few intuitive steps, ensuring a seamless experience from search to video call. Using paper prototypes like Post-it notes, we tested different interactions and collected valuable feedback to refine the design early on, leading to a user-friendly flow that meets the needs and expectations of both users and behaviorists.
The final product reflects our extensive design and development efforts, integrating all branding elements and features for a cohesive and polished user experience. Each screen aligns with the brand's visual identity, using consistent colors, fonts, and graphics, while feedback from testing helped refine the user interface for seamless navigation and ease of use. Subtle transitions between screens, a robust design system, and features like search options, specialist profiles, and video consultations contribute to a smooth and engaging experience that meets our project objectives.
